Mr. Earl L. Gillon (b. June 21, 1922, d. May 14, 2011)
Mr. Earl Gillon began dabbling in furniture repair and antiques around 1978 and established Country Road Antiques in 1981. From that first medium-sized building, Country Road Antiques grew as Earl first expanded the main shop, expanded it some more, took over his original farm shop, and then built additional buildings to house all the furniture. Located down a country road outside of Gore Springs, Mississippi, Country Road Antiques offered the shopper over 17,000 square feet of antiques located in 4 buildings.
Over the years he developed the reputation of having very fine furniture restoration skills. The size of the inventory of furniture he amassed is legendary. Earl loved wood, he loved creating things and repairing things. He loved buying clocks, mainly for the challenge of trying to repair them. More than this, Earl enjoyed visitors to Country Road Antiques. He enjoyed the conversations and the friends he made from across the south, indeed, from across the country. Come join us on March 22, 23, and 24 to reminisce about your association with Mr. Earl Gillon and purchase a piece of history.
